The spindle boxes develop early counting skills and develop the association between quantity and the number symbols 0-9. Importantly, they teach the concept of zero.

The wooden boxes have ten numbered compartments into which the child counts the corresponding number of tactile wooden spindles.

Many people prefer the split spindle boxes as the numbers 0-4 can be isolated and taught first. They are also easier for a child to carry.

45 shaped 145mm wooden spindles (not plain rods) are supplied.

ELG: Numbers: children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number.
