A wooden construction set which is easy to use. Tightening and unscrewing the bolts improves the pincer grip to aid future pencil control. Reproducing models from diagrams is a particularly useful skill to develop.  

48 piece set in a wooden tray (including nuts, bolts, drilled bars to connect, and a child-size screwdriver).

Early activities can include: 

connecting a small number of pieces and asking the child to copy

building two simple structures with one difference that you ask the child to make identical

use a divide between two players, give each identical selection of items, have one build a simple structure giving instructions to the other to make the same 

Recommended age 4+

ELG: Moving and handling: children show good control and co-ordination in large and small movements. They move confidently in a range of ways, safely negotiating space. They handle equipment and tools effectively, including pencils for writing.
