Froebel's Gift 5B consists of a variety of natural wood cubes, triangular prisms, half-cylinders and curved blocks, with forty-four pieces in all. The pieces can be assembled together into a variety of forms and structures, and the set is intended to encourage free play and exploration. 

The shapes are contained in a wooden box with a sliding lid.  it is an interesting activity just returning the shapes to the box.

Developed in the early 1800s by early childhood education pioneer Friedrich Fröebel, the Fröebel Gifts ("gabe" in German) are a series of simple toys and exercises which focus on geometric forms, colours and creativity. 

For creative ideas search images of Froebel Gabe 5B and then let the children's creativity take it from there.  Why not photograph constructions and create a pinterest board recording their creations.
